AthletiKids is a program designed for elementary-aged children with a focus on developing fundamental physical literacy that will enable participants to be active for life. It can be offered in either school or community league settings. The program is activities-based, with many games, drills, and circuits designed to develop essential athletics skills that can in turn be applied to many other sports.
AthletiKids was created by five-time Olympian Tim Berrett, and under his supervision, is delivered by current University of Alberta track and field team members who have been trained in the program’s model. It involves three complementary parts for a well-rounded athletics experience: outdoor cross-country running in the fall, indoor programming from late fall to spring, and outdoor programming from late spring to summer. These three components can be offered as an integrated, year-round experience.
